Celebrity Cruises has announced that the new Celebrity Ascent cruise ship is progressing towards completion. The ship’s first open ocean voyage, sea trials, was completed without problems.
In this phase of the construction process, the ship undergoes a series of manoeuvrability tests to ensure it can perform as expected. Celebrity Cruises proudly announces that the Celebrity Ascent scored exceptionally well on all these assessments.
Demetrios and Tasos Kafetzis, brothers and co-captains of the Celebrity Ascent, oversaw the testing at the shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, operated by Chantiers de l’Atlantique. In addition, there were close to 200 people aboard to check out the ship’s equipment.
The fourth ship in Celebrity Cruises’ state-of-the-art Edge Series is the Celebrity Ascent. Guests will likely find many of the same design features and onboard amenities they enjoyed on the Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, and Celebrity Beyond. The bar will be raised on Celebrity Ascent with its reimagined restaurants and upgraded entertainment.
In November, the ship will set sail for the first time from Port Everglades. On 22 November 2023, Celebrity will have a four-night preview cruise of the Western Caribbean, and on 26 November 2023, they’ll host a three-night preview cruise of the Bahamas.
On 3 December 2023, Celebrity Ascent will set sail on its debut Caribbean season, consisting of 7-night voyages visiting ports in both the Eastern and Western Caribbean in a rotating pattern. In the summer of 2024, passengers aboard the Celebrity Ascent can choose between 9- and 12-night voyages that explore Italy, Greece, and France.
